The Northern Road upgrade is part of the NSW Government’s 10 year Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan. It will upgrade the road from generally two lanes to a six to eight lane divided road to support integrated transport in the region and capitalise on economic benefits from development of the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek. The upgrade will improve safety, increase road capacity and reduce travel times and congestion when construction is complete.
The four kilometre section between Glenmore Parkway, Glenmore Park and Jamison Road, South (Stage 3) presents an opportunity to deliver excellence in urban and landscape design for public infrastructure within the constraints of existing residential development and in the context of an operating M4 Interchange. It will provide four lanes in each direction with a dedicated bus lane and shared path, Improving pedestrian safety and traffic flow at the M4 interchange.
Construction commenced mid 2017 and the project will open to traffic mid 2020.
