Padstow Village Centre is a Priority Centre within the Bankstown Local Government Area. It was the focus of an urban design study undertaken to inform Bankstown Council’s long term planning and statutory framework for key Centres in the LGA. The Study set in place a program of public domain improvements for the next 10-20 years. The study identified an urban form that is legible financially viable and provides improved amenity through appropriate public domain improvements.

The masterplan for Padstow established a hierarchy of residential density that transitions from a high density mixed-use zone centred on the railway station and retail core, through to medium and low density residential development in surrounding residential areas. Built form controls encourage development that retains streetscape character and respects the scale of heritage significant buildings in the Centre.
