Richard is an Associate Director of CM+ and is responsible for design and management of major architectural, urban design and masterplanning projects.

Richard graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Architecture in1979, and from Harvard University with a Master of Architecture in Urban Design in 1985. He has lived and worked in the US, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia, and has unique international experience in designing large-scale transit infrastructure, mixed use centres, university campuses and in leading community interface engagement.

Richard also has in-depth academic experience having been Director of the Harvard University Urban Design and Planning Section of the Career Discovery Program, as well as Adjunct Professor of Architecture at Roger Williams College, Bristol, RI, and at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA.

Prior to joining CM+, with Kohn Pederson Fox in New York and Bechtel Corporation in Hong Kong, Richard led design teams for mixed-use master plans, high-rise tower design and documentation, transit station planning and design, and transit oriented development studies.

Richard's rail expertise includes leading roles on projects in the US and Asia for transit facility design and transit oriented development. He led design teams on projects for the WMATA Washington Metro, MBTA Boston Transit, TRTS Taipei Rapid Transit, PUTRA Kuala Lumpur Light Rail, KMRT Kaoshiung Mass Rapid Transit and the KCRC Hong Kong West Rail Division. He is currently leading the design integration study for the town centre and railway station at Leppington, NSW, Australia.

Richard joined CM+ in 2004 to manage the Yacht City project in Jin Hui, China. The project entailed development of a new water lifestyle themed city of 100,000 people on an 11km2 site south of Shanghai. He also played a leading role in the design of other waterfront development projects such as the East Darling Harbour competition in Australia and The London Promenade in the UK. He also recently completed master plans for the UNSW Asia Campus in Singapore and the UWS Campuses in Penrith and Parramatta, and is currently working with the World Bank on the design and implementation of the Botswana International University Science and Technology Campus in Palapye, Botswana.

Richard's CM+ experience extends from these large masterplanning undertakings to the architectural designs of high-rise towers in Abu Dhabi, Shanghai and Sydney, and to smaller scaled designs for elements of a 600 dwelling coastal community proposed for Catherine Hill Bay, NSW, Australia.
