Year in Review 2005 - A Message from the Directors (17/12/2005)
2005 has been an exciting year on many levels. From achievements in the office to personal goals, staff have had an interesting and exciting 2005. There have been ups and downs from just missing out on projects to challenging new commissions.
It has been the 'year of the motorways' - all culminating in the final throes of the WM7 Project opened on 16 December 2005, for final (Stage II) completion in July 2006. We have been instrumental in consolidating the masterplan and rezoning documents for the Anvil Creek lifestyle resort/community at Greta. We have also completed the masterplan for the Nan Tien University in Wollongong. The year has witnessed new buildings emerge on the Edgewood Estate and associated documentation for a whole series of medium density and mixed-use developments. The office has been offered the masterplanning role for the nearby Bulli Brickworks Site with some 400 dwellings. The major score for the year was the award of the Emirates Luxury Resort in the Wolgan Valley.
We have seen exciting heritage work successfully continuing with projects such as Prospect Hill, Pasminco, Dawes Point Enhancement and Interpretation (National Trust Awards 2005), St. Mary's Crypt, the WM7 Heritage Plaques, together with the design of Light Horse Interchange, to mention just a few.
In China, the University of Science and Technology, Shanghai is in operation and the associated residential estate 'Pasadena' progresses rapidly with new villas and town houses under construction, and showhouses complete with interiors open for inspection and sales exceeding expectations. The masterplan for Jinhui Yacht City to accommodate 100,000 populations, awaits final government approval before the next stage of work. Contacts with Austrade and our major engineering partners are revealing some interesting prospects for the New Year.
Branding work, particularly related to advertising signage for Eyecorp, has traversed proposals for Sydney Airport, Changi Airport, Singapore and Hong Kong International Airport. This has been challenging work and most rewarding, with the recent success of the Changi Airport, Singapore proposal.
We wish you a happy New Year for 2006.

Masterplanning in China (16/12/2005)
It has been a busy year for the Jinhui Yacht City Masterplan project.
CM+ prepared a detailed masterplan for this new 'water themed' town to accommodate 100,000 people and up to 2000 boats. The Stage 1 Detailed Design Phase, consisting of the initial waterfront elements, public domain and key iconic buildings, will commence upon formal government approval of the masterplan. The project builds upon the existing Jinhui Canal which runs through the area. Several new canals, basins, and water courses have been proposed to create a complete 'water city' where various water-based activities for leisure and commerce can take place.
Yacht City is planned as a full service city providing both living and working areas and, due to its proximity to Shanghai, will be an attractive base for the yachting industry in China. CM+ is now waiting for the next stage after confirmation from government authorities.

Edgewood Estate - Architecture at it's best (16/12/2005)
Edgewood Estate, located in the northern suburbs of Wollongong is a housing development that CM+ has been involved with since 2002. CM+'s initial brief was to provide the master plan for Stage 3E, a 3 hectare site fronting the Princes Highway and Forestview Way. The site was previously a clay brick quarry which required extensive remediation. The client, The Village Building Co., required a mix of free standing and medium density housing, incorporating SEPP 5 housing and utilising a number of housing types. The design created 56 terrace and courtyard style houses, 16 free standing houses, and 3 three-storey (2 SEPP5) apartment buildings with 60 units.
During this year many of Stage 3E buildings have developed from DA through to CC and into construction. Many of the freestanding houses, terrace houses and courtyard homes have been constructed. One of the SEPP 5 apartment buildings, Block D is pending CC approval and tender documents have recently been completed in preparation for the commencement of construction early next year.
Since our initial dealings with the client on Edgewood, further architectural commissions within the Estate have evolved, including Watergum Way Townhouses & Apartments, Stage 4 Apartments and Townhouses and Eco cluster housing.
Edgewood Estate will continue next year with further documentation/supervision on various parts of the Stage 3E development and further documentation of Watergum Way Townhouses and Apartments.
